Marje Taska has been active as an artist for over five decades. Her artistic journey began in Estonia in the 1970s under the mentorship of Tõnis Vint, one of the most influential artists of that era. Since 1982, she has lived and worked in Sweden, developing a multifaceted practice that spans printmaking, painting, installation, and performance.

In parallel with her visual art, Taska has consistently explored leather as an artistic material – a legacy inherited from her grandfather Eduard Taska, a pioneer of leather art in Estonia. In recent years, she has begun to draw directly onto leather, bringing this traditional medium into a contemporary and conceptual context.

Her works are represented in numerous museums, municipalities, regional collections, and private holdings, including more than twenty pieces in the Art Museum of Estonia’s collection. She has participated in a wide range of exhibitions in Estonia, Sweden, and internationally, most recently in the international art festival “Survival Kit” in Riga in 2025.

At the exhibition in the Estonian House, Marje’s drawings, prints, paintings and leather art are on display. She has also invited her colleague and friend, artist Linda Nurk, a third-generation Estonian based in Stockholm, to participate as guest artist.
